Pathari State was a former princely state of India, administratively under the Bhopal Agency subdivision of the Central India Agency. The state covered an area of 78 square kilometers and had a population of 6,293 in 1892. Its capital was at Pathari town.〔(Imperial Gazetteer of India, v. 20, p. 29. )〕 ==History== Pathari's royal house was founded in 1794 as a ''jagir''〔(Princely States of India K-W )〕 by a Pashtun of the Barakzai faction from Afghanistan, who rose through the ranks of the Mughal Empire. Following Indian independence in 1947, the last ruler of Pathari signed the instrument of accession to the Union of India on 15 June 1948.〔(Pathari Princely State )〕 The former state was incorporated into the new state of Madhya Bharat, which subsequently became Madhya Pradesh state on 1 November 1956.
